About Us

The Artist

My story is literally one that dreams are made of. I am an immigrant from the Philippines to the U.S. I was a teenager when my family came here almost 30 years ago, so we could take a shot at the American dream. My mom, dad, older brother and I landed in Los Angeles, California. I didn’t speak English, which meant going to school, meeting new people, and growing up in a completely different society was exciting and terrifying all at the same time. But we pushed, we clawed at concrete to gather enough means to start this new life.

Fast forward to now: Microwave. What is Microwave, you ask? Well, it’s a coalescence of my origin story – my love of art, streetwear, design, and family. I have traveled the world and have seen the work of the masters. Now I have the opportunity to add my stamp in the world. I’m just at the beginning and I cannot help but feel all the same feelings that I felt when we emigrated to the U.S. – a foreigner in a new land, excited, terrified, and committed to show up everyday and share my passions.
